Ill-timed fast
Sept 4 2000 -
Yesterday I had the opportunity to fast - it was a tough fast because the day before we went to a ward branch activity and played around with the branch all day - the bad part was that they didn't feed us anything and forgot to tell us that we needed to bring food - so we got home (very sore) from the activity, ate all we could, then started our fast. I fasted for Sjlvie and Fernando. Much to my surprise Sjlvie came to church with her son (I thought she had to work) It was great. Fast and testimony meeting was powerful and Sjlvie really liked it. She just keeps getting stronger and stronger. I hope her family notices her improvements and decides to follow her example. We have an appointment for dinner with her this Friday and I'm really looking forward to it. We also have an apptmnt w/ Fernando for the 2nd this week. I think he's pretty scared of the baptismal invite, but the plan is to really smack him w/ the spirit so that he has no other choice but to accept.

I was thinking about Elder Haws today and how strong of a character he has to have inside to be able to push ahead in the mission. He really only understands about 20% of what's going on usually, but he doesn't let that discourage him - he pushes ahead with a really admirable show of faith in God. It makes me grateful for what God has blessed me with in the way of talents - and makes me marvel that someone was able to make it through 2 long tough years based on their gigantic Trust in the Lord.
