Guiler Born! English Class Explosion!
SEPT 26 2000:
Well today was a neat day. My new comp (Elder Guiler) and I set goals for this week and this month. We set a goal to give away 10 books of Mormon this week. That seemed to me to be a really high goal, but definitely something to strive for. Well at the end of today we had given away 9 and it's only tuesday! We've really been teaching a lot of firsts on the street (3 already this week) and just giving out books left and right - It's amazing. The Lord is really blessing us.

But even more amazing was the turn out for english class... 88 people! That was really surprising. I had a feeling it was going to be big - but not that big. We smashed our goal of 50. Another good thing was that 7 members came and brought their friends so that will be a big help. Things are looking up. We ended up having to split the class in two because there were way too many people - there weren't even enough seats for them all. So now we'll do it Tuesday and Thursday both. Nice.

Another cool story - Mini-Miracle in Trento. Sjlvie's "Husband" finally came to church. (that was a miracle in itself) But the really neat part was what happened in church. Luigi (Sjlvie's "Husband") was raised in some sort of Catholic college where he was abused both mentally and physically leaving a lasting impression on him about religion and how it's led. He expressed to us his concern that all religions are just organizations led by men in the name of God to achieve their own desires. (This happened a few weeks ago) In church, by "coincidence" the talk given by Fratello Aliberti was on the 121st section of doctrine and Covenants which explains church leadership and direction. It explains exactly why this church is guided by God and how. It was powerful and the spirit was strong. Luigi loved it and said he had never seen any church like it 0 he said he would like to come to church from now on.
