2nd MTC Entry
Oct: 15, 1999:

Yesterday my good friend Matt Cochran sent me a letter from his mission in the Dominican Republic. At least I received it yesterday. It was cool to get mail on only the 2nd day at the MTC. Matt was very excited and he gave me some advice for the MTC & my mission in general. He's a very cool guy.

Today we had another LGM (large group meeting) It is probably one that I'll always remember. It was about the plan of salvation, the fall of Man, and the Atonement of Christ. We watched a video about the life of Christ and the spirit smacked me clean in the chest. The whole atonement and the ultimate love of Christ pounded into me hard. It was the first time I've cried about anything concerning my mission, and it felt good. I tried to hold it back at first, but my feeling was so overwhelming that I just couldn't stop the tears. I think it may have been a culmination of all the emotional events that have happened recently, but it was centered around my love of Christ. I don't think I've felt the spirit that strong ever. The MTC is great.

Tonight we also had our first gym time. It was pretty funny...we watched a video on keeping healthy, but it was mostly focused on how to avoid having gas. Basically Fart evasion. After gym (now) I'm beat. I'm ready to sleep. The days are long, but they go fast because they are packed full with stuff to do. At the end you are exhausted in every way: Spiritually, mentally, and now physically. My throat is burning...the air is thin in Utah. I need to get in shape. Hopefully I can find some time to do so.
