Da Bologna a Padova (A.P. Call)
Well - Ormai, it's become a tradition to put down an entry while on the transfer train so here it goes.

Da Bologna a Padova (Selvazzano)

17 Aprile 2001:

It certainly was an Easter I'll never forget. In church, of course, all of the talks were Christ centered and I found myself reflecting on the greatness of the Love, loyalty, and Responsibility shown forth by my Savior in suffering for me.

Afterwards we headed to a member's house for a big Easter dinner. It was all really good. The day before, President Curtis had given me a call, but I wasn't home. I tried to call back, but there was no answer. I figured he was calling to ask info about the upcoming transfer (which he does sometimes)

I finally got a hold of him on Easter day from the house of this member family. Everyone else had left to walk down to the nearby river and I was left w/ Fratello Marcasini (good member, a rock in the Bologna branch) I called President Curtis and the call went something like this:

Salve, Presidente... Salve Anziano Pasto... Come va? Bene... E Lei, come va?... Bene... Well Anziano Pasto I was calling because I have a new assignment for you (Gulp)... as you know Anziano Bianco will be leaving the office this transfer, I'd like you to come to Selvazzano to be an assistant................ O.K. (And then he explained a few things to me)

Before the mission I had no idea what a District Leader, a Zone Leader, or an Assistant were. But as I've been here I've come to develop a deep respect for these great leaders - I have always really looked up to them - and now it's kind of hard to believe that I will be serving as one.

The call entails a lot of responsibility - and is quite different than a full time proselyting missionary - I'm not really sure exactly WHAT all the responsibilities are, but I do feel a great weight of personal responsibility - mostly to be a good example.

I feel the weight, but I also know that Heavenly Father will sustain and support me. I hope to fulfill my calling well. I will seek to put my heart might mind and strength into it.

An interesting side note is that President Curtis will be turning the mission over to the new Mission President while I am in the office - this will be SOME adventure!
