Pasto and Ditto Together Again
June 2, 2001 - Well, judging from the date of my last entry (about a month ago) I'd say office life is pretty busy. I've now served here for 6 weeks. This last week Anziano West headed back out to the field (Pistoia) and I received a new companion. It's actually quite strange - Anz. Ditto got called into the office with me.

Anz. Ditto and I served in the MTC together and then 3 months in Ancona together and now it looks like we'll be here in the office for 4 1/2 more. (That is until I go home) He extended to the Nov. transfer so it shouldn't be a problem.

I really love Anz. Ditto. He's like my brother. We are really going to work wonders together. I'm excited that we'll be together to bring in the new Mission President.

Anz. West seemed way sad to leave the office...well not so much the office as Padova. He really loves the members here. I hope we can keep up the good member work.

Anz. Ditto is way into Batman. Obsessed I would say - so today during Preparation Day, he asked me to draw a picture of Batman for him. It came out pretty well, so I made a copy and I'll glue it here.

COOL EXPERIENCE: The other night doing house we met a man from the Congo (French speaking Africa) He didn't speak Italian, but he did speak a little English. (A very little English).

Anziano West and I talked to him and w/ very simplified words we told him we "come from Church." The conversation kind of fizzled out there and we went on doing the apartment building we were in. About an hour later we finished and were leaving the building. Outside almost to the car, we hear children's voices calling for us to wait. 2 black children came running up and asked us to stop. They said "My mom wants you to come up and talk" so we turned around and went back.

We went up-stairs where we met Bridgete (the daughter of the man we had talked w/ earlier). She spoke Italian excellently and knew missionaries 9 years earlier and had even been to church. We chatted w/ her and then set up a return appt. to teach the family a 1st discussion. Since, we have been back to teach them the 1st, and once to do a controllo. They are reading and praying and thinking about baptism. Things are looking good. Forza Famiglia Pungu!
