SEPT. 19 2001 - Wednesday Prep. Day
Today - right now, we are having a meditation session for our companionship study. We are listening to some inspirational EFY music - and I'm feeling the spirit strongly. I've been thinking about what I will say for my final testimony tomorrow in Zone Conference. And I think I have received inspiration.
Lately Anz. Hansen and I have been analyzing missionary work and how we can really break out of our mindsets and barriers and make things explode. Elder Gene R. Cook said when he visited our mission that the Lord is waiting to make Italy explode - and he's just waiting for missionaries that have enough faith. We have been focusing on faith and reading a faith scripture every night - but what exactly Elder Cook meant, what we're missing, has not become apparent to us.
I've seen that most missionaries are obedient and hard working and expect good things to happen - but what is it that we need to improve or change? Well, during the meditation this morning I figured out a part of it, it comes from a talk by M. Russel Ballard: "I know that most of you are hardworking and dedicated to the work and to the Lord, but focusing your service and your faith in Christ and his atonement will make you better. You will choose not to waste a minute of the Lord's time. You will recognize that in Gethsemane, the Lord bled from every pore and willingly took upon him your sins in order that you might seek through repentance and forgiveness all of the blessings of eternity. Consequently you will understand that whatever time you have left of your mission, it is precious little to give in exchange for all of the blessings that Jesus opens to us through all eternity." - My Mission Belongs To The Lord Aug. 28, 1998
Our faith must be deeply rooted in Christ for us to break out and really blow the mission up w/ baptisms. We've got to focus on HIM 100%. This goes along w. what I read in the BoM today. Alma 32 + 33. Alma 32 is a great discourse on Faith - in an abstract sense - while in Alma 33 & 34 Amulek comes in w/ the application ---> it's Faith IN CHRIST - that will bring about the white delicious fruit. And as we understand his sacrifice we really will dedicate all our heart, might, mind, and strength to HIM and HIS work.
