Cara mia Famiglia,
Io sto bene e sono grata per lo spirito santo che sta qui per tutti il MTC. Sooo give that a shot mia mamma bella! I am learning so much. Italian is coming easily but I know it is because of the spirit and my spanish. This marks one week and my testimony has already grown so much. There is a weird sort of a time warp thing that happens here, uno minuto sta rapito e otro minuti tutti sta lentamente.
I have grown -continue to grow to love mia sorelle (comp/sisters). The (Hutchins) California (San Diego) 90210 girl is so entusiastic about the gospel. She was recently reactivated so she is like a convert, but she lived near the San Diego Temple and went everyday, all day for two and a half months, she is very high energy, very flirtacious, and very girlie Sp? From her, I am learning to be more expressive and less prideful concerning expressing my feelings and she is inspiring me to be more enthusiastic about the gospel-less jaded and cynical. She was very annoying and obnoxious to me at first, but she continued to grow on me and the more I pray and humble myself, the more I can tolerate and even like her.
I have come to realize that my problem with her is that she likes to be an expert (because she is so excited about what she is discovering in il scritturi) She is a strong, overbearing personality who doesn't like to be wrong, so I thought to myself or rather was prompted that hmmmm why do these personality traits sound so familiar? Perhaps she is a mirror of things that I do that I could do better to keep in check. Also she is a leader and thinks she needs to tell every one how it is and be the shepherd-Again a role that I sometimes :) assume. I tell you this not to whine or complain but to say that I think she was made my companion for a reason, and all these things that at first were driving me completely batty are things I am coming to value in her.
Mia otra collega (Brough) e' molto brava! I love her! She is without guile, but hilarious! I din't think I could ever laugh so hard at someone so sweet! We are struggling to go to sleep on time every night because she keeps us laughing so hard, she is molto random, her sense of humor reminds me of Ned Devine humor-the white soul humor but without guile if that is possible- That's the best I can describe something undescribable. From her I am learning to be nice to everyone and be more positive while still having a good time.
New Year's Eve was so cool here! I am sure Ethan will write you about it too-Can I just say I love him and I'm glad he is here. We see each other everyday. His companion has a very cocky aura about him and he just puts off prideful bad attitude vibes so pray for Ethan that he can love his companion and that his companion will be nicer to him. To quote Ethan "can I just tell you how bad it is to have a companion as prideful as me!" :) Since his companion is DL, he can authorize splits so it is like Ethan's real companion is Elder Burgess (Aussie! :)) (Has a kangaroo fur scripture case!) and Ethan's actual companion hangs out all the time w/Burgess' comp because they were best friends before the miss. Ethan comes and eats w/me when he can, and he is so cute telling me all the stuff he thinks is/are awesome about general authority talks etc.
Anyway-oh yeah! I was telling you about New Years Eve. I guess that normally celebrating has been unauthorized and missionaries were expected to go to sleep at 10:30 like regular, but this year they had Taco Bell, McDonalds, Subway and Pizza Hut cater and showed BYU football videos and had a special McMormon singer come and then we had a special assembly with all 2,200 of us and saw a movie sort of slide show about missionary work throughout the past 2,000 years and then we counted down and yelled and screamed for 10-15 minutes strait then, when the mission president finally calmed us down, He showed/explained a time capsule to us that has lots of MTC paraphanalia including the roster of all the millennial missionaries that were in the MTC for the 99-2000 turnover which they will bury in the sidewalk for a good 25 years at least. Also, after he calmed us down, he told us that they wouldn't let missionaries do that for another thousand years and we are all invited back for it then :)
Then he had us all kneel down in the big assembly hall by our bleacher chairs and we prayed (preghiamo) and sang "Called to Serve" So I will be able to tell my grandchildren e mio bambini che io was a "millennial missionary of the MTC!" Brava, no? So that was New Years.
My district (the class I study with and have the same schedule as) is so special. In our church everyone is trained to be leaders, but my district Anziani are the leaders of the leaders. They are all very intelligent and hard working and each one has a sweet, deep testimony. Me and my companions are the only girls and they treat us like principese (plural of principesa). Our AP's who are going to the Netherlands (or somewhere) always say Buon Giorno Principesa to us and they also look out for us.
But the Anziani in il mio distrito sono bravisimo! We are already extremely good friends after only a week. I haven't seen any other districts as close and fun and on top of things as mine. Sorry to brag, but it's true! We have been through/are going through so much together that we have a trauma bond I think.
We have a morning teacher who has never shown up, but we keep having a guy that looks like Keanu Reeves substitute for us. Then we have team teachers for afternoon-we love them the most because they are so fun and so spiritual. (Both my age - it kills me how old I'm getting!)They are Fratello Ringer (clown boy who does impersonations, sound effects, and really good shaggy dog stories) and Fratello Bingham (A more masculine Than Johnson w/more striking features-we are trying to make him ask out one of our substitute teachers, Sorella Holyok, but he is so shy! At night we have a Sunshine/Ximen girl named Sorella Holman. All our Anziani have a crush on her, but she imasculates them and she is newlywed, so of course I love her. She has a very good accent and is always in control of the class but also has fun w/us.
We haven't gone to the temple yet because it was closed on the holiday but we will go this week, I can't wait! IT has been way too long!
Mom, please send ATM card and checks asap :) perfavore, grazie :).
My Branch President (Petersen) looks like Ed McMahn and can be very stern when lecturing and keeping us in check, but can also be a jolly grandpa. I love him a lot even though I've only seen him due or tre times.
Chandler, I love you and your vato mobile. please send pics! I miss you all! please write! you can't say I don't!
Sono grata per la mia famiglia e so che siamo together para sempre e aquel idea mi da felicita perche amo a voi (voi= you all or y'all) very much! Nel Nome di Gesu Cristo, Amen
Love, Sorella Circulo Davis (si dice-you say it-: Cheerkulo)

P.S. There is a deaf Sister here (Sorella Ohara) who is fluent in five languages and she calls us "mie sorelle" (my sisters) and always looks for us and tutors us in Italian. Today she sat w/us @ lunch and wrote us messages in Italian on Napkins and would only let us write back to her in Italian. When we had to leave she gave us the I <3 U sign and mouthed "Ciao" Che bella, no? |
