District Member Review |

Okay, in order for me to have a clear recollection of my experience in the MTC, I'm gonna need a rundown of all of the people in my district. We are quite a crew, each bringing a unique taste to our melting pot full of friendship stew.
ANZIANO STEPHEN NEBEKER:
My first companion of my whole mission. I consider myself quite lucky to have gotten him. He is cool. He came from Alaska & has some very interesting personality quirks. He is sorta racist, and lets some of that slip out sometimes even though he's trying to change that part of him, most likely because he recognizes that racism isn't really very socially acceptable. He came from a party environment like me so he and I can really relate on a lot of stuff. He is a thin guy, but quite tone and very strong for his size. He's funny. He has some quites and jokes that are hilarious: I'll leave a space here so I can fill them in as I remember.
He took a lot of french, so that comes out through his accent when he speaks Italian. He is very easy going and friendly so we get along great...lucky me (as you'll see from my description of some of the other companionships in our district). I like him because he's not obsessed with obeying every single rule, but we can both recognize what the right thing to do is. Easy going as I said before.
SIDE NOTE:
Tonight was the last night of the referral center. It left me with a good impression but one call stood out to me. It was a sort of wake up call: The lady I was talking to didn't really sound interested...in fact she sounded really depressed but she was listening to what I was saying. I got her to accept a visit from the missionaries and while taking down her info she asked me a question: "Would you like to know what I'd like to talk to the missionaries about?" So I said yes and she said: "Suicide" Now this brought me to a screeching halt. I talked w/ her a bit and found out that her brother had committed suicide and she was very mad at God for letting it hapen. I really didn't know what to say, so I tried to comfort her, I told her that God loves us and that whenever I have questions I pray and search the scriptures for an answer. I hope it helped her, and I hope her visit with the missionaries will help her.
That experience was like a splash of cold water. It reminded me that this work we are doing is deadly serious. Lives and souls and eternal happiness or suffering lie in the balance. It's no joking matter, I think it was definitely something I needed to realize. As a side note within this side note: It's trye, bearing your testimony really does strengthen it...7 days, bearing test. sometimes over 50 times per day. Never before have I come even close to bearing testimony that much and never before has my testimony been stronger.
T = Testimony:
7(T*50) = Very Strong Testimony! |
