District Personality Evaluations continued |

A continuation of my personality evaluations
ANZIANO ROBISON:
He is what I'd like to term a "straight arrow." He is an extremely by the book sort of guy. He is always studying, never joking. But it's cool. He went to BYU for a year so he has some established diligent practices. He likes the Simpsons so I respect that. He can be a little judgemental at times, but sometimes that sort of thing can be helpful. He's quite quiet so I don't have a very good reading on his personality. He dominates his companion thought, Elder Batchelor. We make fun of how A. Robison is like a parent to A. Batchelor. Whenever A. Robison wants to do something, he tells A. Batchelor and Batchelor jumps to do it. We always make the whipping sound when it happens: "Woop-peesh!"
ANZIANO BATCHELOR:
He's a strange one. He's got a very interesting mind. He's from Texas so has some interesting quirks. His sense of humor is so strange. It's impossible to explain what it's like. He can be extremely goofy to the point of being a clown, and also extremely humble to the point of taking abuse & forgiving immediately. It's strange. He has an excellent singing voice. There's something about his personality that annoys me though. I don't know what it is. I'm praying to have more love toward hum, but he seems cocky and aloof, to me, a lot. Like he knows everything. He's good at the language but he will rarely admit a shortcoming or a wrong. But then again, when he's in his humble mood, he will admit anything. He's a tough one to figure out too, and the only one that I don't really "like."

(This situation has improved greatly)
ANZIANO KELLY DITTO:
Here's a guy I really respect. Very friendly and very outgoing. He's always lived the gospel his while life and has a strong testimony and is confident about it. I appreciate his leadership ability and the love he has toward every member of our district. He really does care for us and wants what's best.
ANZIANO HAVEL:
A convert to the church. Another one that's hard to figure out. He's, inside, a nerd...don't get me wrong...I am too and I like a lot of people that are nerds. But he's not true to his nerdiness, he tries too hard to be "cool" or part of the crowd. I'd like him a lot more if he were more true to himself. He's a cool guy though. Hasn't offended me or anything. Friendly at most times.
ANZIANO PETERSON:
He's probably the only guy, besides my companion, that I've really become friends with. He's very intelligent and I like that (Actually I'm friends w/ almost everyone, just closer to some than others.) He's got the funniest sense of humor. He's so cynical. He's always got a comment for everyone (usually negative) It's funny though. He's trying to change it, but I think it's funny. He reminds me of Seinfeld because he's always noticing things and systems and pointing out their faults or defects...funny.
ANZIANO MILLER:
He's another one with two different personalities. He can be extremely sensitive and humble when he needs to be, but then he turns into a total goofy clown every other time. His comedy is more slapstick than intellectual, but it's funny. It was hilarious at first, but it can get annoying and it's starting to be old, but he's a very nice guy and a good friend. He's been having trouble w/ his companion (Elder Peterson) because their personalities are so different, but they are getting along a lot better. Their relationship is nothing compared to the next one.
ANZIANO EAQUINTO:
This Elder is quite an example to me...for many reasons: He's the only one of us w/ a girlfriend that he would have married, for sure without a doubt, if he hadn't come on a mission. I thought I liked Carrie a lot, but it's nothing compared to how Eaquinto feels about his girl. (Don't get me wrong Carrie is absolutely amazing, but Eaquinto is obsessive, almost) But he chose to come on a mission even though he had these feelings. It was hard for him when he got here to want to stay because he missed her so much. He was also struggling w/ his testimony so it was even harder, but he had the faith to hang in there and things have gotten much better for him. He has also had to struggle with his companion. The whole district has had to struggle, but Eaquinto the most because he is with him ALL the time. But he has shown an amazing amount of tolerance and love, even though most people would have done a lot different.
ANZIANO BLACKWELL:
This Elder has been THE CHALLENGE for our whole district. But as I now know, challenges strengthen us (and we learn from them too). From the beginning ABW had never been close to us. Always drawing himself away and never forming the relationships that are so important for new friendships. So eventually we come to find out that he really doesn't like any of us. He doesn't trust us. He thinks we're immature, etc. But the real challenge comes when he starts to struggle with the language. He just isn't understanding anything being taught in class and he starts to just give up. Which is disappointing to all of us and also makes us grow further apart. His non-participation in language lessons spreads to everything. I think his frustration was just growing to the point that he was shut off from any loving or hope, and since we had no friendship he couldn't reach out to anyone. This proceeded until he decided he wanted to be sent home, re-submit his papers, or get transferred to english speaking. He ended up writing a letter to the prophet(Gordon B. Hinckley)...but before he could send it, our district intervened. We were hanging out in his room and started discussing his decision. We threw every bit and piece of logic at him about why he needed to be there, but nothing worked. We tried everything... except one thing... which my companion eventually did, and that's bear testimony. He told ABW that he knew that he needed to stay with us...and the spirit testified, to us all, that it was true. The spirit is the only thing that has the power to soften hearts, and change minds. ABW's letter to the prophet was ripped up and disposed of. But the story doesn't end there: for the next few days he improved and tried, but eventually he started down the same dark spiral into depression and gave up on everyone once again (I'll continue this at the next star (*)) |
