Post Christmas Wrap-up |
|
Okay it's Dec 26 1999 I got busy so now I'll finish catching up.
We had a very awesome zone conference on thursday in Padova. There were some awesome talks, instruction, testimony, and food. It was neat to see all of the other missionaries from around the zones and to see a couple from our MTC district.
We got to watch "how the Grinch stole Christmas" Which was awesome. It's a cool movie. (It was neat to watch T.V. again.) On the way back from Padova, we got on a wrong train - which is a whole other story - but I won't tell it here, suffice it to say we got home LATE.
On Christmas eve the Zone Leaders (Anz. Curl and Allen) came down to interview Katia for baptism. While here I got to go on splits w/ Anz. Allen to do some street contacting. I learned some new techniques and got to know him. It was fun. Then, after the interview, we sang some carols in the Piazza Roma. Then Anz. Perry & I got "bunged" by Carolina and decided to do some more street contacting.
The streets were pretty full with people doing Christmas shopping at the last minute, but the stores closed early so the streets cleared out very fast. Therefore our contacting was not going so good because no one wanted to talk because they were all in a hurry to get home to the festa.
We were getting discouraged and were about to head home to do some phone calls when one guy happened to stop and listen to us. His name was Allesandro and he was absolutely golden. He said he's part of a small group of his friends wo meet to read the Bible and share their feelings about religion. They also donate money to charities and help the needy.
He was totally into our presentation and took the BoM w/ the commitment to read the Brani Importanti and to pray. The cool part is this: He said that the group he's in has been praying lately to meet some ragazzi (young men) to help them to find the truth. Isn't that amazing and inspiring? It sent chills through us to know that the Lord had helped us to cross paths and now we have this great hope to help Allesandro and his friends to come unto Christ. It was a most wonderful feeling.
Christmas Day: (Actually Eve first)
Christmas Eve Anziano Ditto went crazy with the notion to have a Christmas party. So we broke out all the sweets and gathered round the table and Anz. Ditto conducted a really fun party. We played games, had a talent show, sang, and just had a blast. We placed all our presents under the Christmas Umbrella (since we didn't have a tree, we decorated a red and green umbrella) and also put up festive decorations around the apartment.
I'm glad Anz. Ditto decided to organize it because it really made the whole Christmas experience fun and brought us together as a District. Well I've got to go to bed, I'll finish next time.
