First day of the Millennium
1-1-2000 - FIRST DAY OF THE Millennium

Today was the day of cleaning. We spent most of today giving our apartment a DEEP cleaning. I was assigned the kitchen, therefore I had a lot to do. But it came out very nice and clean.

It's nice to have a very clean house, but not fun to keep it that way...well it's easier not to but a good idea to try to keep things clean instead of waiting and having to spend a whole day cleaning.

Then tonight we went out and did street contacting. It was very cold. We taught about 3 first discussions and gave away 1 book of Mormon. It was a fairly successful night.

Tomorrow is fast Sunday. Our companionship is fasting for 3 of our contacts: Lucia, Carolina, and Allesandro, also for us to have more faith and diligence.

Tomorrow night we have an appt. w/ the phillipini who always fix A LOT of food and sometimes fried chicken (YUM) which we can't get anywhere else in Italy. Therefore we're fasting this night's dinner & tomorrow's breakfast.

Also today I set goals on a goal sheet that was included in the blue binder I got my first day in the field. It has a list of all the attributes from D&C 4 and then space next to each where I wrote my personal goals to develop each.

I hope to be able to develop each attribute a lot while I'm on my mission. Fede, Virtu, Conoscenza, Temperanza, Pazienza, Gentilezza Fraterna, Pieta, Carita, Umilta, Diligenza. All very important.

Today was a day of setting things in order, which really needs to be done every once in a while.

My companion wrote in his journal today: "It's the new millennium, it looks a lot like the old millennium." and that's it. I think it's pretty funny. But it's got that sense of truth to it. I'm curious as to what has happened around the world because of this new millennium. It will be interesting to find out.
