Allessandro
Jan 5 19 2000:

Last night was amazing. We had an appointment with Allessandro, the guy we met Christmas Eve, at 8:30.

So we went to the church to meet him. It got to be about 9:00 and we realized he wasn't coming so we started to leave. As we went out the door, there he was. He had some trouble finding us. So we met with him and had a first discussion. It was awesome.

Allessandro is so humble and spiritual and ready to learn. He hadn't had a chance to read much of the B of M, but what he read he thought was "interesantissimo" The discussion went excellently and the Spirit was strong. He told us more about the group he has...they go around looking for needy people to help. They buy them food and clothes and provide legal or other necessary help.

A lot of the people in the group are professionals he said. Allesandro is a psychologist. It's amazing to see a group of people who are so self-sacrificing and wiling to help others. He committed to keep reading the Book of Mormon and also to pray about it. Then he called one of his friends from his group and he came over (his name's Edzio - he's older, around 60, and he's a college professor)

We taught him a first too and gave him a Book of Mormon with the commitment to read and pray. The spirit was strong with him too. The whole time we were teaching Edzio, Allessandro was reading the B of M intently.

These two men are quite ready for the Gospel and to hear and recognize the truth. We set up another appt. with them tomorrow at 8:30. Allessandro said that he'll invite the rest of his friends too (around 5-10 more people!)

It's so amazing to see how prayers are answered. I'm so grateful for this opportunity to teach these men. They have a whole lot of potential. I can hardly wait for tomorrow night. We were out late, but we called in to make sure everything was OK. It was worth it, that night will be one I'll always remember.
