1st Transfer - Ancona to Bolzano, Grammie Viola Passing
WED. March 22:

Well, a lot has happened lately. I got the news on monday that I am being transferred...to Bolzano. Bolzano is the most northern city in the mission. It's on the border of Austria. My new comp will be Elder McGuire. It's a bike city. 2 Elders from the Austria Mission will also be moving into Bolzano this month because almost everyone there speaks German. They still speak Italian too, but German is almost equally spoken.

So this will be a big opportunity for me to learn German. It's way north so it will still be very cold. I also hear it gets very hot in the summer because it's in a valley and all the heat gets trapped. It's very exciting to be going on this new adventure. I leave tomorrow at 7,00 and get to Bolzano at 2,16...7 hours...ouch.

The part that sucks though is that I have to leave Ancona. I have really grown to love the place. Today in comp study we read over the highlights of our experiences here in Ancona. It was very fun. It seems like just yesterday that I got here.

Remembering all the people we have contacted and all the fun times...it's kind of sad to be leaving. I'll miss the branch Pres a lot. Paolo [editor's note: Giuglierelli] - he was a very cool guy - a strong member with a big heart and a lot of drive - he was also very funny and fun to be around. He's what's holding this branch together. I hope to be able to see him again. We formed a good friendship.

It's also sad to be leaving Anz. Perry and Anz. Ditto. They've also become life-long friends. I really hope this branch continued to grow and get stronger. Ancona is an awesome city.

I got a letter from my Mom today. She told me that Great Grammie Viola passed away. It's sad, but she was very old and also sick - so I'm sure she's feeling a lot better where she is now. I really loved Grammie Viola. It's very strange to think I'll never see her again or talk with her again in this life.

My mom also said she got a new job that pays $60,000 a year! Wow! I can't believe it. That's a lot of money. I'm very happy for her. I also was made aware that I missed her B-day - the 19th of March. I'll have to send her a card quick to make up for it.

As a final tribute to Ancona - I'm going to draw the statue of P.zza Roma on the next page.
